Fiji Hotels and Accommodations

Accommodation in Fiji Depending on the kind of vacation you wish to enjoy, Fiji offers tourists a plethora of accommodations to choose from. With an endless range of hotels, resorts, B&B’s, bungalows, villas, motels and hostels, Fiji is the perfect holiday destination for many with its beautiful beaches, excellent water sports and incredible blue lagoons. Whether you are looking for economical accommodations or luxurious resorts, this tiny island nation has a wide variety of places to stay at, ensuring that your dream vacation is truly an unforgettable and magical one.

While most of Fiji’s accommodations can be found spread out across its 300 islands, a good place to use as a base camp is the city of Nadi, Fiji’s tourism hub and the third largest urban center in the country. Located on the main island of Viti Levu and home to the Nadi International Airport, this city is where a majority of travelers land, when they come to Fiji. With an excellent selection of restaurants and shops as well as plenty of places to see and things to do, Nadi is a great area to stay in. There are plenty of hotels and resorts found in Nadi, with the largest being the Sheraton Resort on Denarau Island.

An hour’s drive south from Nadi is the Coral Coast, where many excellent beach resorts can be found. A great place for a family vacation, there are some good guesthouses and hostels in the area as well. If you prefer, you can stay at Pacific Harbour or the capital city of Suva, which lie on the eastern edge of Viti Levu. Accommodations here are top notch as well, with many wonderful resorts and hotels in the area in addition to a champion golf course. For a more quiet retreat, you can stay along the northern coast of the island, which has a more laidback feel to it with plenty of cheaper accommodation options.

To the west of Viti Levu is the Mamanuca Group of islands, which are a very popular tourist destination due to the host of water-based activities you can enjoy here. A great location to unwind and relax, there are over 20 resorts located here, ranging from the expensive to mid-range deals.

North of the Mamanuca Group is the incredible Yasawa Group of islands known for its stunning natural beauty and fantastic beaches. There are a number of budget accommodations available here along with three of Fiji’s most exclusive resorts. Camping is also allowed out here, however, there are no shops in the area so you have to bring your own provisions.

Just east of Viti Levu is the Lomaiviti Group, only accessible by boat or plane. There are a number of superb resorts on hand out here as well as several guesthouses and budget hostels. The scuba diving out here is first class. If you are looking to escape to amore secluded and isolated location, then look no further than the island of Vanua Levu. The second largest of Fiji’s islands, Vanua Levu offers some wonderful accommodation alternatives for those who want a more tranquil retreat.

Situated southeast of Vanau Levu is the “Garden Island” of Taveuni. While there are not many hotels and resorts found here, this island is worth visiting for its amazing beauty both above and under the sea.

The Kadavu Group of islands along with the Lau and Moala Groups do not have too many places to stay and are much harder to reach. Accessible only by boat and plane, these island groups are perfect if you want an isolated vacation by yourself or with your loved ones.

One thing to remember when staying in Fiji is that all accommodation prices are subject to a 12.5% VAT.
