Accommodation in Kadavu Group
With some of the best scuba diving in the world, many tourists visit the Kadavu Group of island in Fiji to be treated to a visually stunning underwater world. The Great Astrolabe Reef here is home to not only an incredible array of marine life and coral, but some exciting vertical drop-offs as well.
If you wish stay in the Kadavu Group, accommodation options are limited as there are not many resorts and hotels here. Also, keep in mind that most resorts in Kadavu are some distance from the airport, and the only way to reach them is by boat. While a few hotels offer free transportation to and from the Vunisea airstrip, some places charge you for return boat transfers, so it is important that you keep this in mind when choosing your accommodations in Kadavu.
One of the best budget accommodations in this island group is Jona’s Paradise Resort, which offers camping options as well per person. Located on one of the best beaches in Kadavu on Ono Island near Vabea, the snorkeling here is excellent as well. Ideal for those who want some quiet downtime, the accommodations here are simple and rustic, with meals included. The resort also has its own diving operation.
Located on the main island of Kadavu, two great budget resorts to stay at are the Matava Resort on the southeast end of the island and Albert’s Sunrise on the northeast end. Both offering comfortable bure to stay in; these resorts charge you separately for your meals. Dive gear is available for rent in both places, and side trips such as bushwalking, village visits and waterfall tours are also organized.
Three popular resorts on Kadavu are the Waisalima Beach Resort, Tiliva Resort and Reece’s Place. If you get standard on Vunisea, Biana Accommodation and Thema offer some basic rooms for rent.
The three top-end accommodations in the Kadavu Group are the Dive Kadavu Resort, the Papageno Eco-Resort and the Nagigia Island Resort, all of which are located on the main island of Kadavu itself. Offering spacious bure and great food, all these three resorts have their own dive operations. At the Dive Kadavu Resort, children under 10 are not allowed. If you are a surf enthusiast then stay at the Nagigia Island Resort, as it offers some superb surfing and a choice of five breaks that are consistent year round.
