Things to do in Mamanuca Island
If you are vacationing in the Mamanuca Group, you will have at your disposal a plethora of things to do and activities to enjoy. From snorkeling to scuba diving, jet skiing, water skiing, fishing, sailing, kayaking, paddle boating, surfing and windsurfing, these tiny islands have it all. Azure waters, gorgeous coral and stunning white sand beaches, make the Mamanuca Group in Fiji the ultimate vacation paradise to have some fun.
Diving
Diving is the most popular activity in the Mamanucas, with a number of dive destinations to explore and discover. Ideal for the novice and intermediate diver, the more challenging dive spots are found along the outer reef. Home to an abundance of fish and corals, the Malolo Barrier Reef, which protects the Mamanuca Group, offers exceptional underwater visibility and ideal water temperatures.
The most famous dive spot in the Mamanucas has to be the Supermarket, where you can see various shark species including black tip reef sharks, grey sharks, white sharks and bronze whalers, swim alongside schools of brightly colored tropical fish. Gotham City is is another popular dive site here along with The W, which lies outside the reef. The North Reef or Circus is filled with clown fish, plate corals, feather stars, nudibranches and a chain of pinnacles. The Fish Store, Yadua Island, Camel Humps, Driwas Dream and Barrel Head are also well-known dive zones in the Mamanucas. There are two ships wrecks here as well to explore.
Surfing
Surfing is also popular in the Mamanuca Group with superb surf breaks found at the Malolo Passage and the Wilkes Passages. Cloudbreak, the Namotu Left, Lighthouse and Swimming pools are among the most famous surf breaks in the Southern Mamanuca. Fishing and sailing are also among the most common things to do in the Mamanuca Group.
For the serious golfer, the Plantation Resort has a full nine-hole course, while the Beachcomber and Treasure Island Resorts have a mini nine-hole course. Island visits or island hopping is another favorite pastime out here, as you visit the various Mamanuca Islands on short trips.
