Eastern Taveuni

Taveuni Village Scene Eastern Taveuni is covered with lush rainforests and is a must visit region for any nature lover. Wild and beautiful, the Bouma National Heritage Park sits here along with the Waitabu Marine Park. A gorgeous area, this part of Taveuni has some great walking trails to explore including the fantastic 5 km Lavena Costal Walk.

Starting from Lavena Point, the Lavena Coastal Walk takes you along the eastern coast of Taveuni up to the beautiful Wainibau Falls. The trail here is well maintained and clear, offering some wonderful sights and sounds along the way. Ideal for those who enjoy spending their time outdoors, there are also some good swimming and snorkeling opportunities found in the area as well. If you like you can also take a sea kayak journey along with the Lavena coastal walk, which is managed through the Lavena Lodge.

The Bouma National Heritage Park protects over 80% of Taveuni and has several wonderful nature trails worth hiking. In this park you will also come across the lovely Tavoro Waterfalls, which is a great picnic area and offers some wonderful natural pools to swim in. For the keen hiker, the Vidawa Rainforest Hike is a full day excursion with plenty of excellent bird watching opportunities.

The Waitabu Marine Park is an excellent place to go snorkeling in Eastern Taveuni. Opened in 1998, this park provides a great half-day tour, which is organized by the locals of Waitabu Village and includes a bilibili boat ride as well as morning and afternoon tea.
