Things to do in Savusavu

Activities in Savusavu With plenty of things to do and places to visit, Fiji's second largest island of Vanua Levu is fast becoming a tourist destination for the independent traveler. The pristine landscape and lush greenery of Vanua Levu is now attracting hundreds of visitors here each year. One of the best places to stay on Vanua Levu has to be Savusavu. The main tourist hub on the island, there are plenty of accommodations here as well as plenty of things to do to in Savusavu.

Once you take a tour of the town, Savusavu is a great place to start a cruise of the area. The Tui Tai Adventure Cruise offers you some fantastic opportunities to fish, swim, dive, snorkel, bike, kayak and trek as you sail between Vanua Levu and Taveuni, along the way also exploring the remote islands of Koro and Kioa. As you sail by, you can catch a glimpse of dolphins playfully swimming beside your boat as well as meet local villagers who are eager to welcome you. The service aboard this cruise is superb, with a brilliant crew and excellent accommodations. If you want you can also charter a boat/yacht of your own and sail this region with a hired crew. Half day cruises, snorkel trips, sunset cruises, overnight cruises, and full day picnic cruises can be arranged aboard the SeaHawk Yacht Charters.

If you are interested in diving and snorkeling in Savusavu, the Savusavu Bay area has a number of terrific dive sites. There are two dive operators in town that can help you arrange dive tours of the Savusavu area as well as along the coast towards Taveuni.

The Copra Shed Marina and the Waitui Marina are a couple of excellent places to just hang out and mingle with expats and locals. You can dock you boat here if you are sailing around Fiji, or just come here to grab a quick drink and a bite to eat. The best beach on Savusavu is on the tiny islet of Nawi. You can rent a kayak and paddle out here, or arrange to be taken to Nawi by a local tour company.

Village tours are also popular here as are hiking tours and kayak excursions. Snorkeling fishing, and swimming are also common activities in the area. For some evening entertainment there are a few of bars in Savusavu to chill out at.
