Things to do in Nadi
Bustling and lively, Nadi is more than just a good stopover destination. A nice city to spend a few days, there are plenty of things to do in Nadi to keep you busy while you are here. And though there are no real tourist attractions in town, there are quite a few activities present here to keep you pleasantly occupied. When in Nadi, visiting the lovely Sri Suva Subramaniya Swami Temple in the downtown area is a must. Large and colorful, the Swami Temple attracts a great deal of visitors here from all corners of the globe. Dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Murugan, this temple is open to tourists; however, you are required to dress modestly and not take pictures inside the temple itself.
For the avid golfer, Nadi has three gold courses to choose from, the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club, on Denarau Island, the Nadi Airport Golf Course and the Fiji Mocambo Course. The Denarau Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course and is perfect for the serious golfer. If you are interested in tennis, the Denarau Golf Club also has 10 floodlit tennis courts to play on. Just before Nadi town, is the Navakai Tennis Club.
If you are interested in trekking, then head just outside the city limits to the Koroyanitu National Heritage Park or the Nausori Highlands for some wonderful hiking expeditions. Horseback riding is also popular here at the Club Fiji Resort. Horses are on hire at Natadola Beach, with horseback riding trips also available at the Sonaisali Island Resort just 12 km southwest of Nadi.
If you are interested in diving or snorkeling in Nadi, unfortunately the waters here are too murky. However, there are many travel and tour operators in the city, who can arrange for a short trip to the Mamanucas or the Yasawas, where the diving and snorkeling is truly superb.
For the more adventurous, Nadi offers some excellent mountain biking at the foothills of the Sabeto Mountains. The terrain here is rugged and rough, with many dirt paths. If you like, you can also go for a Shotover Jet ride around the Nadi River, near Denarau Island. An incredible adrenaline rush, the jet boats here race at thrilling speeds, taking sharp quick turns and spins that will leave you completely amazed.
To spend a quiet day out, visit the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, some 10 minutes from Nadi Airport. A beautiful tropical garden with gorgeous orchids on display, this place is a wonderful spot to have a lovely afternoon picnic.
