Things to do in Suva

Suva Activities The main city on Viti Levu, visiting Suva is a pleasant experience as this town has a charm of its own. There are plenty of old colonial buildings that are well worth seeing, alongside the many places of worship here. This city is also has a number of beautiful gardens to visit, especially the Thurston Gardens, which was created in 1913. When in Suva, don’t forget to go shopping, with many colorful stores and markets found all over town. There are plenty of things to do in Suva to keep you busy for more than a few days.

If you enjoy trekking and hiking, then visit the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park, just outside the city. A superb place to go bushwalking, this verdant and green park is great for a picnic as well with three swimming pools, picnic tables, changing rooms and shelters. You can hike to Mount Korobaba, which is roughly a two-hour walk or if you are a serious trekker, climb up Joske’s Thumb for some incredible views of the surrounding area. Do keep in mind that you will need to get permission from the Fiji Visitors Bureau before you climb here. If you like, you can also contact the Rucksack Club in town for a walking adventure.
For those who like to swim, visit the huge Suva Olympic Swimming Pool near Victoria Parade. Entry is cheap and there is a kid’s play area here as well. The pool is open to the public from Monday to Friday. If you are a serious swimmer, you can visit the university swimming pool, which is 25 meters long. Although Fiji is situated on the coast, there are no beaches here. The nearest beach is Deuba in Pacific Harbour, a 50-minute drive away.
